COVID 19 Update

Hewitts > All News > COVID 19 Update

We understand that this is an uncertain time for everyone and would like to offer reassurance and clarity as to how Hewitts are operating during the Coronavirus (COVID 19) pandemic.

Her Majesty’s Government has acknowledged that legal practitioners are fundamental in keeping the justice system running during the Coronavirus (COVID 19) crisis. Hewitts employs key workers in the groups set out by the Ministry of Justice required to support the administration of justice, acting in the execution of Wills and Estates and advising people living in the institutions or deprived of their liberty.

Like everyone we have been closely monitoring the fluid position and the Partners at Hewitts have put in place steps to protect the health and safety of our clients and staff in line with Her Majesty’s Government’s guidance and regulations.

As such, we are not holding face to face meetings other than by advance agreement. Please rest assured we continue to offer our services and our lawyers are working hard to ensure that we continue to deliver a high level of service throughout this unprecedented and challenging time. Contingency plans are in place to ensure that we can continue to deal with your enquiries and our technology and security systems support us in this.

It should be borne in mind that whether you are a commercial or an individual client there are a number of other stakeholders who all have an input in a transaction or case. For example, a residential conveyancing transaction can include estate agents, lenders, and removals and if you are in a chain, other buyers or sellers. It is inevitable that there will be some delays whilst we all adapt to the necessary restrictions imposed by the government in response to Coronavirus (COVID 19).

Where we are able to, we shall continue to progress your matter without interruption across our range of services. We are able to offer telephone advice, and manage client enquiries remotely.

We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all our staff who are helping us to continue to deliver our high levels of service during this current time. We appreciate your co-operation and understanding and hope that you and your family remain safe and well.

All the very best.

Brenda Davidson, Managing Partner (1.4.2020)
