We are very proud to announce that Megan Hamilton has successfully achieved her Children Panel Accreditation. Megan works at our Newton Aycliffe Office and specialises in Care Proceedings, undertaking complex child protection cases. This Law Society accreditation recognises her experience and specialism and now allows her to represent both parents and children in these Court proceedings.
In order to achieve the qualification Megan attended a three day course which discussed in detail the law in England and Wales relating to child protection, adoption, special guardianship and the procedure followed in respect of care proceedings. Time was also spent with a Children’s Guardian in order to understand the role of the Children’s Guardian in Court proceedings more closely. She had to complete an assessment portfolio to demonstrate her knowledge and her experience in this area of law. Finally she had to undertake an interview at the Law Society where she was provided with a case study and had to prepare answers in advance.
Megan completed her training contract at Durham County Council before joining Hewitts on her qualification as a solicitor in 2017 where she has specialised in child protection cases and has progressed to deal with complex cases involving non-accidental injuries to children and specialist risk assessments.
If you require any further assistance as a parent or family member who requires representation in respect of care proceedings then please contact our office on 01325 316170. Alternatively, you can send Megan an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
