Mediation is the world’s leading form of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), providing parties involved in a dispute with a structured and focused process to resolve issues with the assistance of a specialist mediator. It offers a practical alternative to litigation, helping parties explore solutions in a controlled and constructive environment.
At Hewitts, we offer specialist mediation services to assist parties in reaching an effective and proportionate resolution to their dispute. Our mediation services are delivered by our CEDR (Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution) Accredited Partner and qualified solicitor, Ben Green.
Mediation can assist in resolving, or at least narrowing, the issues in a wide range of disputes. This includes commercial disputes, employment disputes, civil matters and private disputes between individuals or family members. The vast majority of disputes referred to mediation are successfully resolved either during the mediation itself or shortly afterwards. Mediation is formally recognised by the Civil Procedure Rules as a legitimate and encouraged tool for active case management within the court system.
The mediation process is entirely confidential and conducted on a without-prejudice basis. This allows parties to explore potential solutions freely, without concern that discussions will affect their position in any ongoing or future court proceedings. For family-related matters, including divorce mediation in the UK, this confidentiality can be particularly valuable in supporting constructive dialogue.
In addition to providing specialist mediation services, we are also able to offer comfortable, professional mediation facilities at our offices, at no additional charge where required.
To enquire about the mediation services we offer, please contact Ben Green by email at bengreen@hewitts.co.uk or telephone 01325 468573.
We charge a fixed fee to each party involved in a mediation, regardless of the monetary value or nature of the dispute.
Our standard fee is £950.00 plus VAT per party, which includes up to two hours of preparation time prior to the mediation date and the conduct of the mediation from 10.00am to 5.00pm on the mediation day. Additional charges may apply on an hourly basis if the mediation continues beyond 5.00pm.
Our fees also include the use of our office facilities for the mediation, if required by the parties.
